China continues to commit human rights violations, not only against its own people, but others as well.
According to SaveDarfur.org, "While China prepares to host the 2008 summer games, its failure to stop the Sudanese government's genocide in Darfur remains shamefully unacceptable. As Sudan's chief diplomatic sponsor, major weapons provider, and largest foreign investor and trade partner, China has more power than any other nation to convince Sudan to halt the slaughter and stop blocking UN peacekeepers.
According to a Los Angeles Times article dated June 16, 2007, "at least 548 workers have been rescued so far in a crackdown on brick factories in north-central China, where abducted men and children as young as 8 had been sold into slavery for $65.00 a head. The owner of the company involved in this case is the son of a local Communist Party official and the police were reluctant to teach him.
